Florida Derechos e Información
Voting Rights
In Florida, individuals with felony convictions must complete all terms of their sentence, including parole and probation, before their voting rights are restored. Amendment 4 (2018) restored voting rights for most felons who have completed their sentences, excluding those convicted of murder or sexual offenses.
Employment Rights
Florida does not have a statewide ban-the-box law for private employers, but several cities and counties (including Miami-Dade and Tampa) have adopted fair-chance hiring ordinances. State agencies follow fair-chance practices.
Housing Rights
Federal fair housing laws apply in Florida. Public housing authorities may deny admission based on criminal history, but must consider individual circumstances.
Record Expungement
Florida allows sealing or expungement of certain criminal records under specific conditions. You must not have any prior sealings or expungements, and the offense must be eligible.
